A little about me

Jeff Simpson is an award-winning Advertising Creative Director, Art Director and Brand Strategist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the founder and principal of Jeff Creative, helping organizations crack big brand challenges, with a passion for climate action and sustainability. If we are going to solve climate change, it will be with smart communications.

I like things. Weird things. Clever things. Fun things. Things that make you stop and go, “Wait… what is that?” I’ve spent my career turning curiosity into ideas, the kind that get people talking, make brands feel relatable, and occasionally win shiny trophies. With a background in art and persuasion, I’m a mix of creative energy and strategic mischief, equal parts artist and ad nerd.

I’m at my best when brought in to do the heavy lifting up front: deep problem understanding, non-obvious research, and high-level ideation. To keep that focus sharp, I don't offer production copywriting, video editing, web development, Canva templates, or AI-generated output. You get pure strategic creative perspective and visual direction designed to show you stuff you hadn't considered.

With nearly two decades of experience, I build brands that feel genuinely human and work in the real world. I’ve led departments, shaped culture, and coached teams to deliver brave, meaningful work. Outside of commercial client work, I started the Canada wide Creatives for Climate Action group to channel some of that creative energy into stuff that can help make a difference.

I love staying close to the craft: concepting alongside teams, rolling up my sleeves when challenges get messy, and pushing for ideas that mix strategic clarity with fresh perspective. My spot is where creative leadership and hands-on problem-solving meet, guiding the vision while getting into the work enough to make it remarkable.

MY WORK

MY WORK ⋆

What I Do

Creative Direction

Adult supervision for wild ideas. I protect the concept through the approval process and ensure the work solves the business problem without becoming boring.

Art Direction

It’s not just about aesthetics, it’s about creating a distinct visual language that separates your brand from the "sea of sameness."

Design

Craft obsession. I don't just point at screens, I still push the pixels. I sweat the kerning and the colour values because the details are what make it real.

Creative Strategy

Thinking before doing. We need to know who we’re talking to and why they should care before we start drawing pretty pictures.

Nap

Performance enhancement. It is the only way to factory-reset a human brain. 20 minutes of unconsciousness prevents 4 hours of mediocrity.

Have fun

I am not saving lives; I am making ads. If we aren't having a good time, the work usually suffers.
